American Hardwood

Ash

Ash: is a hardwood that grows in North America. The wood is hard and dense and weighs about 670 kg per cubic meter. The sapwood is light-colored to nearly white and the heartwood varies from greyish or light brown, to pale yellow streaked with brown. The wood is generally straight-grained with a coarse uniform texture. The degree and availability of light-colored sapwood, and other properties, will vary according to the growing regions. Ash is tough and very strong but elastic, extensively used for making quality wooden material in music instruments, work tools, furniture and sport material. Woodworkers generally like the timber for its great finishing qualities. It also has good machining qualities, and is quite easy to use with nails, screws and glue.
